I was feeling frustrated in my previous job, and looking for a new opportunity when I saw Easton Bevins was recruiting for a senior surveyor. The more I learned about their business the more I could see that it would be a good fit, matching the experience that I already had and offering opportunities to develop new skills and progress. I also liked that the company is expanding and was keen to be a part of a progressive practice with exciting plans for the future. 

Variety of work and developing skills    

Fourteen months on and things are going well, in particular I am enjoying the variety of work that my role offers. I manage a growing team of surveyors in our Birmingham office, and get to do plenty of project work - something I am  particularly keen on. I am also learning new skills such as business development. Working in close collaboration with our senior management team I have brought in several new, sizeable projects and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the process.

The people working at Easton Bevins help to make it a great business to be a part of as well as an enjoyable place to work. We have offices across the country, so the managers make sure we can all get together in person at company events.

It’s good to feel like part of a wider group, with a team of professional experts at the helm. From the leadership team down, everyone is approachable and supportive, and we all get on. If ever I have a question about any aspect of a building project, there’s always someone who can answer it, and no matter how busy they are they will always respond. This also means that I am continually expanding my own knowledge, which is also something I am very keen to do.

Planning for a successful future

As a business Easton Bevins is keen to progress and the management team is open to listening to new ideas and exploring different ways of working, which is refreshing. For example, I had recommended a new software system to further improve efficiencies in project management. It has now been trialled, approved, and adopted by the team and is already proving its worth. It’s good to know we are all pulling in the same direction and working to develop a successful business.
