Project:
Team effort and drone imagery finally resolve leaky roof
Location:
Pippits Court, Severn Beach
In Brief:
Situated on the edge of the Severn Estuary and ever exposed to the elements, residents at Pippits Court in Severn Beach – a block managed by our Block and Estate Management team – had borne the brunt of the West Country’s weather for years. But despite numerous attempts to resolve a leaking roof, for the third time in four years winter storms lifted the roof’s lead flashing, resulting in further leaks and damage.
Inter-Department Determination
Previous attempts to rectify the leaky roof had seen our Estate and Block Management team come up against a resolute insurance company, which resulted in work that while seemingly fit for purpose, wasn’t standing the test of time.
So the team called on the services of our Surveyance department, which, using a drone, carried out an extensive airial survey of the property.
Drone Footage Offers Answers
Detailed images captured by the drone allowed our surveyors to closely inspect the condition of the roof and identify a number of defects, including patch repairs to the lead flat roof section on one of the blocks. This enabled the team to compile a report and recommend appropriate repair solutions, including options for remedial repairs.
The Surveyance team even contributed to conversations with the insurance company’s loss adjuster, convincing them to commission extensive repair work to stop the lead from lifting again.
Works Nearing Completion
With the work estimated at £40,000, it took months of conversations with the insurance company and numerous site visits, but the work was eventually given the green light. Our Block and Estate Management team then gave the go-ahead to a trusted contractor, and we’re delighted to report the work is now nearing completion.
Come winter, we’ve no doubt the residents – who have been patient throughout, understanding that no stone was left unturned trying to resolve the issues – will be equally thrilled.
Our Block & Estate Management team takes great pride in offering a highly responsive and personal service, and with our other departments’ expertise always close to hand, Easton Bevins’ property services and standards of customer care remain second to none.
