Project:
New build private house
Location:
Abbots Leigh near Bristol
In Brief:
We recently worked with a long-standing client who had secured the perfect rural plot for their ‘Grand Design’ dream home. The project architect had designed a striking three-storey home, with concrete flooring, a metal roof, and timber and stone facade, creating an impressive aesthetic that blends well with its surroundings. The property, a substantial 450 M2, three-storey building with a 150 M2 basement, posed some technical issues during the construction phase which required our expert guidance.
Technical expertise overcomes challenges
The designs allowed for the basement to run the full length of the property and house a home cinema and gymnasium. Excavations for the basement revealed the plot was on an old quarry site which presented significant structural and technical design challenges. However, through careful consideration and design, we were able to ensure the project progressed in line with the original design.
Ensuring required building regulations are met
Our clients had their hearts set on a specific style of interior door which did not meet the required fire regulations. Our technical design team were able to produce an holistic approach which included, amongst other items, the installation of a fire suppression system, which resulted in the client being able to keep their chosen doors.
Our in-depth knowledge and technical expertise allowed us to support the more complex, technical aspects of the construction, ensuring all required building regulations were fully met and the architect’s vision could be fulfilled.
The project complete, our client is delighted with the end result. They said; “We used Easton Bevins on a previous occasion, and they were the obvious choice for this important project. Martin Durkin has been fantastic to work with. Despite significant challenges his knowledge and expertise have enabled us to complete our 'Grand Design' home. We would thoroughly recommend Easton Bevins to anyone requiring advice and support when constructing a new property.”
