£3bn investment to help end postcode lottery for children with SEND

With around 50,000 specialist spaces to be created nationwide, the government’s plans should help ensure more children with SEND can thrive alongside their friends at their local school.

For several years, specialist facilities for children and young adults with social, emotional and mental health needs, autism and learning difficulties have been in short supply. It was encouraging, then, to see the government commit to improving provisions and making spaces more widely available through its £3bn SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) reform programme.

It will mean young people won’t have to travel miles from home to have their needs met, and can instead get support in tailor-made spaces with the right facilities while also mixing with other classes for subjects or parts of the day that are appropriate for them.

As a business with extensive experience adapting sites into first-class SEND facilities, we are of course thrilled by the government’s plans. We’re equally determined to make sure that sites and trusts across the country receive the surveying and adaptation expertise the work demands – and that staff and pupils deserve.

We can assess every site with an expert eye and oversee the entire process – from initial assessments to final completion – delivering on time, within budget, and exceeding expectations.

Ben O’Brien, Chief Executive Officer, commented: “Having worked closely with one of the UK’s leading SEND providers for several years, I have seen first hand the joy that the spaces and staff bring to all who rely on them. We’re delighted the government has shown its commitment to helping people thrive. This investment will transform lives. Going forward, we hope to be at the heart of adapting new sites, working closely with our clients to deliver exceptional facilities that provide vital support to those who need it most.”
