MPs visit Easton Bevins cladding remediation project in Salford

We recently welcomed Alex Norris MP - Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State responsible for Building Safety, Fire, and Local Growth - to view one of our Salford cladding remediation projects.
The Minister was accompanied by Rebecca Long-Bailey, MP for Salford, Paul Dennett, Salford City Mayor, and Kate Green, Deputy Mayor of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
The building, a residential block development on Salford Quays, consists of around 196 apartments constructed in the mid-2000’s. The cladding on the building now requires significant remediation work to bring it in line with current building fire safety regulations. The project encompasses a range of works, including replacing the cladding and installing fire barriers. It is estimated to take up to two years to complete at a cost of £9 million.
Easton Bevins is acting as the employers agent on this project, managing the remediation works through the Cladding Safety Scheme (CSS) - a government initiative that meets the cost of addressing life safety fire risks associated with cladding on residential buildings*.
Director of Easton Bevins, Ben O'Brien, said; “Cladding remediation is crucial to ensuring people’s safety in high rise, multi-occupancy apartment blocks. CSS funding can help facilitate works required to address unsafe cladding and it is encouraging to see members of the government and the local authority taking an active interest in these critical projects.”
