Martin oversees technical and regulatory matters at Easton Bevins, ensuring high professional standards and compliant, technically robust project delivery.

Martin is a Chartered Building Surveyor with extensive experience across the construction and property sectors. He provides technical leadership within the practice, with particular expertise in Building Regulations, fire safety and project management. He is a member of the Institution of Fire Engineers and has specialist knowledge in the conservation of historic buildings.

Alongside his technical leadership responsibilities, Martin remains actively involved in a wide range of surveying and consultancy services. His work spans residential and commercial projects of varying scale, from individual properties to multi-million-pound developments, advising on design, compliance and delivery. He also acts as a technical advisor to the litigation team, preparing CPR-compliant Expert Witness reports and supporting the resolution of complex disputes.

Drawing on his extensive experience in both public and private sectors, Martin provides clear, authoritative guidance on regulatory and technical matters, supporting clients and project teams in achieving compliant and effective outcomes.

Martin Durkin - CV

Martin began his career in electronic engineering before moving into the construction industry in 1990, bringing a strong technical foundation to his work in building surveying. He initially worked in the public sector within Building Control, where he developed specialist expertise in surveying and fire engineering while undertaking further professional qualifications. He progressed to the role of Senior Building Control Officer, with responsibility for complex projects and fire safety matters.

In 1997, Martin moved into the private sector, establishing himself as a Chartered Building Surveyor and gaining extensive experience across a broad range of projects. His work has covered both residential and commercial developments, from small-scale domestic works to large, multi-million-pound schemes for national and international developers.

Martin has worked across a wide range of building surveying and consultancy services, including project management, design of new build and refurbishment schemes, and advising on Building Regulations, planning, housing legislation, and fire safety. He has also worked extensively in construction disputes, acting for residents, property owners, and developers in matters relating to boundaries, structural issues, building services, and defects.

He is regularly appointed to prepare CPR-compliant Expert Witness reports and has provided evidence in court. Martin maintains a strong commitment to continuing professional development, ensuring his knowledge remains current across the technical, regulatory and legal aspects of the profession.
