Services

Clerk of Works

The building safety fund insists that with all new cladding remediation projects, the client must appoint an independent clerk of works to oversee the quality of the materials and workmanship.

Easton Bevins are experienced with carrying out quality control services, particularly for cladding remediation, and have assisted clients on projects in excess of £75 million. For each project, we ensure our clerk of works fully understands the proposed design, materials, and required level of workmanship, utilising quality assurance software to record their visits and findings.

Our clerk of works provides an independent assessment of the quality of the works, and we are able to work in conjunction with contract administrators, employers' agents, fire engineers and contractors, to ensure the required standard is maintained and recorded throughout the project.

Cladding Remediation

The Government is asking residential property developers to remediate combustible cladding on all buildings in England that are over 11 metres.

If a building has cladding safety issues or has failed EWS1 inspection and remedial works are required, we can help. Our team has particular experience in managing cladding remediation and can project manage from start to finish.

External Building Fire Safety Inspections

Inspecting the fire safety of a building is vital to ensuring the protection of the occupiers. Our building surveyors will conduct an external inspection and provide a full report.

Peer Review

If you have received an EWS1 report and recommendations and would like a second opinion, we can examine this to validate the findings. We can then liaise with the appointed architects and fire engineers (where appropriate) and produce a safety report.

Having a second opinion from a trusted expert provides additional peace of mind. Furthermore, our expertise has, in cases, resulted in a reduction in the scope of remedial works compared to the initial recommendations, thus offering a saving to our clients.

Our Process

01 Technical Review

Review the external cladding fire safety report to validate the findings and liaise with the appointed architects and fire engineers (where appropriate).

Ensure that the report's findings match current guidance which, in some cases, can result in a reduction in the scope of remedial works compared to the initial recommendations.

02 Tender

Prepare the technical specifications and pre-tender documents.

These will be sent to a number of appropriate contractors inviting them to tender for the project to ensure that you receive the most competitive price for the work.

03 Start on site

Once the tender is completed and a contractor appointed, we will assist in drafting the necessary contract documentation and work can begin.

As project manager, we will arrange a meeting with the subcontractors prior to starting work and ensure that the site is ready for construction to start.

04 Managing work on site

During the construction phase we regularly visit the site to ensure that works are being carried out to the required standard, in line with agreed schedules.

Our quantity surveyors will monitor spend with a view to keeping the work within the agreed budget and we will keep you informed throughout.

05 Completion

Following completion of the work, we will obtain all necessary documentation including the building completion certificate, EWS1, associated guarantees and the health and safety file.
