Easton Bevins is proud to announce that surveyor Tolo Taylor has achieved RICS Chartered Membership (MRICS) accreditation, having completed his APC (Assessment of Professional Competence).
Tolo Taylor, a former assistant head teacher with a long-standing interest in property, joined Easton Bevins in October 2020. He’s had a very busy two years, in addition to his APC he also achieved a distinction in his MSc in Building Surveying in 2021.
Studying RICS Chartership
Tolo explained, “The course consists of a structured training programme with regular supervisor and counsellor meetings. Training logs and diaries are used to record progress and plan the remaining areas to focus on. You need to be very systematic and organised in your approach to the work and ensure your procedures are nice and smooth.”
Tolo’s experience
Skills from his former role have helped Tolo develop his new career in surveying. “I’m most proud of how quickly I’ve completed my training,” he said. “There’s been a huge amount of information to take in and retain, you have to be like a sponge. My teaching background was in history and literature, which is arts based - now I’m really enjoying developing new technical skills.”
Training at Easton Bevins
“There’s a wide range of key competencies required to achieve RICS Chartership. Training at a firm such as Easton Bevins, which offers the full range of surveying services, and in such a friendly atmosphere, has helped me enormously,” said Tolo.
“I’m so grateful to Easton Bevins for allowing me to work for them alongside studying for my MSc and RICS Chartership. It’s been a busy two years but it’s worked really well. I’m particularly grateful to Richard Sherwood, who was my counsellor, and Ben O’Brien, who was my supervisor. Chris Easton, co-founder of Easton Bevins, also congratulated me on my achievements, reminding me that now is when I actually start learning.”
Richard Sherwood, Associate Director, said “I’m so pleased that Tolo has achieved his MRICS accreditation after all the hard work he’s put in. I’m delighted to have him on the team, he’s a great asset for Easton Bevins.”
